Kearsarge Fire Department

On 01/15/2016 at 18:46:00 dispatched To ZIMMERLY RD & LOVE RD /ERIE, PA 16509. The location is a Residential street, road or residential driveway. The incident was determined to be a(n) Motor vehicle accident with injuries. KFD was dispatched for a Rescue to assist WRFD, motor vehicle accident, rollover with entrapment. 444 and 440 en route. Units arrived and assisted with stabilization, extrication, and removal of patient. Crews utilized cribbing, air bags, hydraulic cutters and spreaders, the winch, fixed and portable lighting, and hand tools to complete extrication. MP1 and MP6 had patient care for the duration of the incident, and reported to 444 that the patient’s head was pinned under the dash. The vehicle went off the road, down an embankment, rolled and ended upside down on its’ roof. Vehicle is approx. 20′ off the road approx. 16′ down the embankment. MPS reports to 444 that the patient is class 2, conscious, with a head injury. Crew stabilizes via cribbing and winch, and place and air bag into service inside the truck to stabilize the dash. Crew utilize the hydraulic tools to make necessary cuts to remove doors/relief cuts in posts, as well as hand tools to gain access to the patient. Crews utilize 2 air bags, on either side of the vehicle, under each exterior ‘A’ post, to lift the vehicle approx. 2″ to relieve the pressure created to free the patient’s head from the dash. Crew accomplish this task, and assist MPS via sliding the patient from the vehicle, onto a LBB, secured into a stokes basket, and up a ladder to the road. Patient secured to cot, and transported by MPS to Hamot. 444 cleared the scene after clean up, and returned to quarters without incident.
