Peapack Gladstone Fire Department

Dispatched by Somerset County Communications at the request of the Bernardsville Fire Chief for Rescue 51 to respond to an accident with a tanker truck on top of two cars. Rescue 51 responded from the station and arrived on scene without incident. The crew found a tanker truck holding 8,500 gallons of gasoline on top of two cars. A passenger was still entrapped in the Mazda CX-5 underneath the front of the tanker trailer. The crew from Rescue 51, led by the Deputy Chief, stabilized the trailer with Paratech struts and wood box cribbing. The second rescue unit on scene (Rescue 29) handled with our assistance extricating the victim from the Mazda SUV using hydraulic tools to remove the passenger side doors, console, and rear of the seats. The patient was successfully extricated from the vehicle at 09:12. Stabilization remained in place from Rescue 51 until the tanker could be properly off-loaded and secured by a heavy-duty rotator.
